POLANKSI DISCO featuring DJ CASIONOVA (Magic Waves / Cyberdance / UK)

Polanski Disco returns to the Sameheads basement with a special guest from London: James ‘Tiberius ‘ Penrose AKA CASIONOVA. Co-founder of the trail-blazing Cyber Dance Records, who’s impressive roster includes Mark Du Mosch, Mr Pauli, Andy Romano, Brassica, Ali Renault and many more, quite simply a ‘Who’s Who’ of what the press are now calling Synthwave.

Casionova is also the regular host of IFM’s Magic Waves Radio, a weekly four hour show taking in everything from Italo, House, Electro, NWOBHM, Soundtracks, Krautrock and more. Equally, Casionova is a master of the dancefloor and anyone who has experienced the joy of seeing the man in action will testify to his godlike power of taste and execution.

Joining James on the night will be international legend PAULO CHINATOWN, film maker, DJ and party don and a special live performance by ANTONI MAIOVVI who notorious sets have been shaking audiences since 2006, this will be Maiovvi’s last live show in Berlin of the year. Anton Maiof’s 10 Tips For University

1. Pack Nothing.
No one cares about where you’ve been or where you’re going. In the future you will realize that being able to make a quick dash with your belongings is far preferable to having to organize a van to move. i.e. Come Zombie/Alien/Auslander invasion, you’re precious memories won’t matter a damn thing. Logically home is wherever you are. You’re an idiot if you think otherwise.

2. Avoid Everyone.
If you want friends, right, no one ever became friends by being thrown together randomly. Look at the Sugarbabes, or any of Her Majesty’s prisons, sure they’ll be nice to you for a while and then BAM. Cocktown.

3. Wear your heart wherever the fuck you like
At some point you’ll realize that everything you liked as a child was fucking rubbish. You’ll have a conversation with people on your course about old cartoons from your childhood. It is perfectly acceptable to start crying once this conversation starts. It makes me want to weep in dispair just writing it down.

4. Gap years are for cunts
You went to sao paulo? I got a job and took a lot of drugs. My time away was as wasted as yours.

5. Food
You’ll need this to live.

6. Your Bed
You’ll need somewhere to pass out and to masturbate. This is the place to do it. If you do somehow convince someone to come home with you boys, it probably helps if its clean. Girls, it doesn’t matter, it won’t last long and most likely you’ll be incredibly disappointed by the whole thing. You know if you’d fucked us more as teenagers we’d be better at it. If people weren’t so shy, we wouldn’t have to watch lots of mind warping porno in order to find out where everything is roughly. In the end everyone lets everyone else down. Someday you’ll realize this is what people are on about when they say things are “acceptable”.

7. Practicalities
You don’t need them. Most things can be stolen from pubs if you really need them.

8. Games
One fun game you can play is finding out everyone else’s weak points and then exploiting them for you own gain, or turning people against one another in a fun way. Keep notes on everything. People will be playing these games with you all the time. Mostly out of insecurity and panic about the new world they have in front of them. Just be better than them at it.

9. Music
This WILL happen to you. You will be at a party and someone will have an acoustic guitar. In order to impress a girl they will play one of the following songs: Creep by Radiohead, Everybody Hurts by REM or Hallelujah which they think was written by Jeff Buckley and will have no idea about Leonard Cohen. They are doing this because they once saw someone else do it and didn’t realize that people are crying not because they are moved by the music but because they want you to stop. Some girls will fuck you just to make sure your hands are busy. You’re not contributing to the arts, you’re contributing to the pollution of the world. Well done, you jerk.

If you MUST make some music you will need what is known as an electronic shaker and a Boss metal zone and a small amplifier. This man is your new hero

These items are less cumbersome than a guitar and will literally sound better than one of those fucking aforementioned songs. (as a side note some arty girl might fuck you because of you might be able to mask how pathetic you are behind what is known as “edge” (not to be confused with The Edge from U2, that is different) also if you are a girl and do this you will get lots of unwanted attention from lonely weirdo’s, believe me…)

10. Things to avoid
Other people. Sharp objects. Men who say they are feminists. Women who DON’T say they are feminists. “Student” Nights. “Student” Pubs. Crack and Smack. Unsafe electrical sockets. The Po-Po. And whatever you do if Michael Barrymore invites you to his house for a party, for the love of God say “No!” politely.

CD 1 – Battlestar Transreplica

The last fated project of the now legendary IIF (Italiano Independente Films) was the remake of the famous 70s TV show with the similar name. Although more of a homage to the original – ‘Battlestar Transreplica’ – as it became known through internet sci-fi communities, added much needed flair, nudity and lashings of steamy violence to the mix. Centred around Nexus 6-esque clones, this time designed purely for sexual recreation, an intergalactic cult whose favourite sport was hunting humans and the hosting of the Space Olympics, the camp robots and special effects that would make the producers of Blake’s 7 blush, coupled with often nonsensical plot twists did little to stop the success of the series. But, what really stood out was the queen of the sex clones played to perfection by Italian scream queen, Ania Pieroni, taking time off from her successful TV station GBR. This cursed masterwork was broadcast in its entirety yet the first three episodes fell to the most unlikely and bizarre circumstances involving lightening cutting out most of the transmission, an exploding express pot and an escaped murder of crows being kept for Dario Argento’s seminal film ‘Opera,’ invading the control booth. Eventually audiences would simply tune out and the final three episodes received the lowest viewing figures in Italian TV history. Nevertheless, with the birth of DVD ‘Battlestar Transreplica’ was set to find a new audience and be seen by many for the first time. Unfortunately, due to a legal wrangle between the show’s stars and the company’s imprisoned CEOs, the DVDs could not legally be sold until an agreement had been met, but before the discussions could reach some kind of conclusion both producers were killed during a prison break gone awry. Antoni Maiovvi’s soundtrack is once again the last piece available in its entirety remastered from the original tape source for your listening pleasure.

CD 2 – Trial By Bullet

Trial By Bullet is the OST to the short lived Italian TV crime thriller of the same name. Conceived as a spin off from the unmade ‘Shadow of the Bloodstained Kiss’ film, it in fact used many of the same sets and costumes in a desperate attempt from the producers to claw back some of the money spent when “Shadow’s” production was cancelled. The show itself was about a homicide detective working as part of the galactic police at an unnamed point in the not too distant future. In a radical departure to the times the officer in question was chasing a serial killer who preyed on the swinger, strip and gay clubs of a far off planet mysteriously aping the Jeffery Dahmer crimes at the same time. (The producers were notoriously cagey about answering questions about the similarities.) Even stranger, however, was the role of the detective in question played by Euro-crime legend Maurizio Merli who sadly passed away soon after the first broadcast. Pulled half way through the first episode, due to a controversial scene involving a bisexual orgy breaking out in a government building, Pope John Paul II ordered the remaining footage to be destroyed, a demand that was quickly voiced again by Italy’s prime minister of the time, Bettino Craxi. In the early 90’s the 10 minutes of the original broadcast were swapped between video traders, but due to the nature of the copying process, quality was always varied. All that remains is composer Antoni Maiovvi’s score, remixed and remastered from the original sequencer files.
